My view on astrology – as a self-awareness tool for personal growth

Astrology is not about predicting the future. It’s a tool for self-awareness, choice, and personal growth. Discover a grounded, responsible approach to astrology.

A grounded perspective on astrology, choice, and personal responsibility

Astrology is often misunderstood as something mystical or deterministic. For me, it is neither. I see astrology as a symbolic and energetic framework that helps us understand ourselves better — while always leaving responsibility, choice, and direction firmly in our own hands. Astrology will increase self awareness if you are approach it with common sense.

A rational background and an esoteric interest

If you are reading my blog, you will probably notice that I am quite esoteric. In my case, this doesn’t mean that I conduct my life based on how the stars are aligned. My core education is in law and finance — and if there is anything far from being esoteric, it is these two fields (except perhaps engineering and other hard sciences).

I have always been interested in astrology. One of my arguments is that entire empires depended on it, and great leaders and kings listened to their astrologers. Why do we deny this today, when for thousands of years astrology was integrated into the scientific worldview? Pythagoras, for example, did not only work on π and mathematical problems — he understood mathematics in a holistic sense and believed that even numbers have energetic resonance. He worked with that understanding as well. In the “modern world,” however, we tend to dismiss this perspective.

Energy, vibration, and the nature of the Universe

I believe that in our universe — and in all universes — everything has its own energy level and vibration. Life on Planet Earth depends on the level at which we choose to live.

What astrology can — and cannot — tell you

Astrology or numerology will not tell you your future. They are not capable of that. Your future is in your hands — no one else’s. Astrology simply shows your possibilities: your strengths and weaknesses, the areas of life where you may struggle, and the ones where quick wins are more likely.

It is like a sophisticated tool for personality analysis. It gives you a map of your life — and even a compass. It shows that if you choose a certain direction, you may encounter many obstacles, but if you overcome them, there can be great learning and reward.

Free will, choice, and personal responsibility

It is entirely your choice which areas of life you emphasize: work and career, or family and friends; success in the outer world, or inner development. The options are endless. This is one of the reasons why two people born on the same day, at the same hour, in the same place can live completely different lives.

They make different choices. Of course, they also carry different baggage — family background, social circles — which influence how they respond to challenges. These factors lead them in different directions.

Astrology and levels of vibration

It is also your choice which vibration you live on. You can be a Leo on a low vibration — a tyrant loathed by everyone around you. That is still a form of power. Or you can choose to be a benevolent ruler, admired by those around you. It is the same archetype, expressed at a different level of vibration.

You are not your sun sign (yet) — You are learning it

Another common misconception about astrology is that people look at their birth date and say, “I am a Virgo.” No — you are not. You are here to learn how to be a Virgo. If you succeed in this incarnation, you will integrate many Virgo qualities, but you must be willing to learn them.

Experiencing archetypes: the example of loneliness

One thing I know about astrology is this: if something is coded in your chart, you will experience it.

One of my favorite examples is loneliness. If your chart indicates that you need to experience loneliness, life will place you in situations that force you to encounter it. How you experience it depends on your choices.

Will you become a monk living in isolation? Commit a crime and spend years in a high-security prison? Become an astronaut orbiting Earth alone? Or perhaps a researcher locked in a laboratory who eventually wins a Nobel Prize?

In all of these cases, loneliness is experienced — but at very different vibrations. The choice is yours.

Astrology forecasting and timing

Yes, astrology also includes forecasting. But real astrology is very different from what most people imagine. I cannot tell you that in May 2026 you will meet your life partner. I can only say that May 2026 may be a favorable period for love.

If you decide that your career is more important at that time, love may not manifest — because you are signalling to the universe that you are not ready.

Similarly, if you ask about starting a business or changing jobs, I can point out periods when things may flow more easily. That doesn’t mean it cannot happen outside those windows — it simply means you may need to invest more effort. Again, it is your choice and your responsibility whether you go with the flow or decide to push against it.

My approach to astrology

To make this clear: astrology is a tool for understanding yourself better. It does not decide who you are or how your life will unfold. You become who you develop yourself to be and live the life you consciously create. Take full ownership of both.

Before publishing any articles about astrology, I wanted to make it clear how I approach it. I hope this piece helps place future texts into context.
